We shot the Richard Vargas haiku today. For those of you who are unfamiliar with his poem, here it is:
ran out of bird food.
feeder is empty. tiny bird
turd left on lawn chair.
With those words in mind, we cast three actors and assembled at the Two Owls Retreat Center for the shoot.
The cast includes Richard Arlington Briggs, Jr., Rosangela C. Taylor and Angel R. Cosme. Jesse and I directed.
Briggs portrayed a war veteran who therapeutically and maniacally unwinds from his tour of duty by feeding the birds while repetitiously reciting the poem in a cadence that can only be defined as "military."
Our film hopes to capture the lonliness and madness of those who suffer from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder.)
Our subplot is the strange agenda of "concerned" (nosey) neighbors.
We hope you join us at our next KFFM film festival. We believe this piece is as humorous as it is important as it is relevant.
Connie
